About
My name is Nick Thorsen. I spent years believing that proximity to change would save me. It did not. After five seasons producing the Dr. Phil show, I crashed, lost everything, and ended up in a homeless shelter, watching Dr. Phil on a busted wall mounted TV and shaking my head that I had become one of our cautionary tales. Addiction took over and nearly took me out until a miraculous experience brought lasting recovery. Four years into a sober life, working at a rehab, it hit me: I want more. I need more. I quit my nine to five, sold my things, and chose to chase my dreams again. the same way I did when I bought a one way ticket from Chicago to LA after college to work in TV with no idea how I would do it. Today I am walking across continents with my memoir in progress, seeing new places and revisiting others I once saw under the influence and meeting them with clear eyes. Mexico, Central America, South America, and beyond are my classrooms. Join me on youtube and tiktok as I document the road, the work, and the proof that a life rebuilt with courage and authenticity can be better than the life you were chasing.

memoir
dear dr. phil
A memoir about my time producing self help tv, the mirror it held to my own chaos, and a drawn out collapse that became the start of real recovery.
